Mai Spa is a dream of Ingrid’s, 5 years in the making. She was the owner of Ingrid’s Laser and Electrolysis clinic, a reputable business proudly serving Calgary for over 20 years. To fulfill her dream of creating a luxurious affordable spa, she sought out Nasie, her registered massage therapist, who had been operating her own successful massage therapy business for over a decade. They recognized a new venture like this would benefit from having Sue Speir on the team. Sue brings numerous years of management experience along with an enthusiastic desire to learn all aspects of the spa industry. Working together over the last 3 years, the dream has come to fruition and all three women look forward to welcoming you to Mai Spa.

Our Philosophy
The Spa Owners
Ingrid Gibson was born and raised in Winnipeg, and after receiving her bachelor of arts from the University of Manitoba, she moved to Calgary in 1982 and has been in the esthetic industry for over 20 years. She formerly owned Ingrid’s Laser and Electrolysis clinic. Her passion is electrolysis; and to pass on this knowledge, she has become an educator at the Esthetic Institute in Calgary. She is happily married, has 5 children and 4 grandchildren. This avid Flames fan enjoys cheering her team on at games, and in the summer loves going camping. (glamping)
Nasie Makos was raised in Calgary. She graduated from Mount Royal University with a certificate in massage therapy. An entrepreneur by nature, she opened her own business, Aphrodite’s Massage in 2006, and still feels just as passionately about massage now as she did then. Her other love is her sweet, energetic daughter - affectionately known as V - who takes up most of Nasie’s spare time. She enjoys spending her summers reconnecting with her family in Greece.
Sue Speir was born and raised in Calgary. She attended SAIT and graduated as an Automotive Service Technician. Over the years she worked for a small independent company where she became licensed and Red Seal certified. She continued her career as an internal service advisor at a Toyota dealership . To further her skillset, she graduated from SAIT with a management certificate which will be invaluable to Mai Spa. She is a proud mother of her son Nathan, and in her spare time she enjoys camping, dancing, and the occasional ride on her motorcycle.
